Vetiver oil is extracted from Vetiveria zizanoides of the Gramineae family. It has an earthy, musty smell and is obtained through the process of steam distillation. The offered range of oil is amber brown and rather thick, which described as a deep, sweet, woody, smoky, earthy, amber and balsam. Extraction Steam distillation of rhizomes (roots), yield 0.5% tp 4%. Optimum age for roots is around 18 months to 2 years.
